  • Always keep stairs free of obstacles.

Bathroom

  • Place non-skid strips or mats in your shower and/or bath.
  • Use non-skid rugs on bathroom floors.
  • Remember rails and grab bars make it easier for bathtub entry/exit.

Kitchen & Hallways

  • Clean spills or slippery surfaces, immediately before walking on them.
  • Use rug gripper under rugs or permanently secure them to the floor to prevent slips and trips.

Walkways

  • Spread ice melt, rock salt or sand on icy walkways.
  • Avoid using extension cords in walking areas.
  • Arrange furniture to eliminate it as an obstacle in walking paths.

General

  • Always use an appropriate ladder for "high" jobs. Be sure to follow ladder safety guidelines and warning labels.
